The prints shown on this website include etchings, woodcuts, solar prints, monoprints, and mixed media.

Etchings are made with wax and acid resistant grounds on a metal plate. Wherever the plate is exposed to the acid it will eat away at the metal. By rubbing ink into the depressions in the metal, wiping the surface clean and printing it in a press you get an impression on paper of the image on the plate. These prints are also referred to as intaglio, this means anything under the surface of the plate as in engraving in which the indentation are made with a tool.

Woodcuts are called relief prints. The wood is cut so that the image remains on the surface. The surface is covered with ink and printed either by hand or in a press.

Solar prints are a new addition to the print world. Placing a plate with a surface that responds to ultra violet or sunlight when an image on film is placed over it. It is printed like an etching.

Monoprints are made where there is only one impression. It can be painted on the matrix or made with various textures; found objects, or anything that will make an impression on the plate.

Mixed media can be a combination of all the above. Also some prints are hand colored after printing.
